3008. “When I was younger, my entire identity was the fact that I was a lacrosse athlete.” As a kid, Marisa Tomsky constantly played lacrosse. She was coached by her father and did really well in the sport, receiving scholarships to universities, such as @ionacollege. There, Marisa competed her freshman through junior years; however, during the summer going into senior year, she began interning with the @nhl. She chose to forgo her senior year of lacrosse in order to focus on her career and took up boxing to stay in shape instead. After graduating with her Mass Communications degree, Marisa eventually landed a job at a law firm and has since found that she really likes being in the legal setting. With an amazing boss, she’s able enjoy going to work, while still feeling like she can work on her passions outside of the office. For the last 3 years, Marisa has taken her interest in boxing and turned it into a love of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. She disliked the activity at first, but after going every week for 3 months straight and competing in her first completion (she won silver), she became hooked. “It’s like chess with your body.” She now continues to train (though she’s currently recovering from a dislocated hand and torn ligaments in her collarbone) and also currently teaches the art to younger students. Having once seen herself as strictly an athlete, Marisa now sees herself as a hard worker as well, one who actually sometimes tries to take on too many initiatives at once. On top of her job and BJJ, she’s currently searching for a new place to live and is also trying to learn new languages like Portuguese, Italian, Spanish or French! So great to meet you, @mtmsky! #10kfriends #nyc #midtown #lacrosse #ionacollege #nhl #communications #law #boxing #brazilianjiujitsu #hardworker #language #meetingpeople
