Today’s keynote speaker spotlight for Convergence on the Coast is Mark Hoggard, Postdoctoral Research Associate, Harvard and Columbia Universities.
Mark describing his presentation: “For millions of years, the convecting #mantle has carried heat from the bowels of the #Earth up to the surface. These convection currents move around through time and deflect the overlying plates, giving rise to the phenomenon of "dynamic" topography. It is increasingly recognised that the #geological record contains fingerprints of these whispers from the deep. In this talk, I will revisit key pieces of evidence that document this behaviour”.
Convergence on the Coast (18 – 22 Nov, Port Lincoln, SA), is the biennial meeting of the GSA Specialist Group in #Tectonics and Structural #Geology (@sgtsg2019) & the Specialist Group in Solid Earth #Geophysics. The conference will include presentations by those working in the structural geology, tectonics & solid earth geophysics research communities, #fieldtrips, a dinner, workshop and more.
