It may seem mundane, but I'd like to talk about my new camping chair. Camping is not always accessible and I benefit from multiple privileges when camping. One difficulty that I have experienced has been finding equipment that can handle my fat, tall body. For example, most camping chairs are built to support a maximum of 225 lbs. Before my recent camping trip, I called my local REI to see if they had anything that could handle more weight and they did! Not only that, they did not make me feel awkward for asking for accommodations or imply in any way that a fat person should not be camping. I really appreciated their help finding the right chair! I went with the REI Co-op Camp Xtra, which has a weight capacity of 400 lbs. and a seat width of about 25 inches. And it has pockets! It's perfect for me! (My wife, a small, petite fat, also thought it was very comfortable--swipe to catch her snoozing!) It did cost more than most other camping chairs, but it was an investment I was able and willing to make. I think I'll get a lot of use out of it in the future!
Do you have a favorite camping chair? Do you know the weight limit on it?
